Stug III

On the main page it is suggested that the Stug III seen in the movie is also seen in movies filmed in the UK. Is it more likely to be one of several running models from Finland e.g. used in Tali-Ihantala 1944 and Beyond the Front Line rather than one used in British films? Brownag

Unknowns

Unknown MG

Soviet troops are seen using an unknown MG during the flashbacks to the Winter War. I don't think it's a Maxim M1910/30. --Funkychinaman 19:40, 4 July 2012 (CDT)

  • Looks like a Maxim to me, based on the rear sights and muzzle. Could it be fitted with a different-style jacket? --Crackshot 04:04, 5 July 2012 (UTC)
I'm guessing it's some sort of Maxim, I'd just like to be sure. --Funkychinaman 23:11, 4 July 2012 (CDT)
Based on that last photo it looks like a Maxim M1910 or Vickers. --Crackshot 04:37, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

There were several modifications of Russian Maxim with smooth jacket: 1) the old M1905 model; 2) simplified M1910s manufactured during WW1 and in early 1920s; 3) Finnish M/09-21. This one resemble Finnish version but I'm not sure. A good view and description of Finnish Maxims can be found here. Greg-Z 00:49, 5 July 2012 (CDT)

I added two more shots of the MG, two of the receiver. --Funkychinaman 01:11, 5 July 2012 (CDT)
The hose connected to the jacket is another point in favor of Finnish Maxim. It is peculiar for Finnish machine guns; Russian/Soviet Maxims used the water hose only when they were static mounted in fortifications. So I vote for M/09-21. The muzzle on the third shot looks completly different from any Maxim but it could be a blank adapter. Greg-Z 01:24, 5 July 2012 (CDT)

M1911

Can it be Norwegian Kongsberg Colt? Greg-Z 00:49, 5 July 2012 (CDT)

I can't tell. That's the only time it shows up, and that's the best shot I could get. --Funkychinaman 01:13, 5 July 2012 (CDT)
