The Green Mile Stephen King novel of the same name. The film stars Tom Hanks as a death row prison guard who discovers that one of the inmates on "The Green Mile" possesses unusual powers. The cast includes Barry Pepper , Jeffrey DeMunn , Sam Rockwell , James Cromwell , and Michael Clarke Duncan . The film was directed and adapted for the screen by Frank Darabont , who also directed the Stephen King adaptations The Shawshank Redemption The Mist

It is also seen used by Warden Hal Moores (James Cromwell ) when he holds it on Paul Edgecomb (Tom Hanks ) and his men when they bring John Coffey (Michael Clarke Duncan ) to his house, before Coffey takes the shotgun away.
