Terra Nova (2011)

Terra Nova was a science fiction television series co-executive produced by Steven Spielberg and followed inhabitants of Earth who in the year 2149 are part of a program to escape an overdeveloped and overcrowded Earth by making a journey back to prehistoric times and restarting the human race. The series starred Jason O'Mara as Jim Shannon, a police officer who along with his family make the trip into the harsh territory. While many of the weapons seen in the series are fabrications, a few are authentic firearms housed in futuristic shells. Terra Nova, which was primarily filmed in Australia, premiered in September of 2011 in the US on the FOX network and aired 13 episodes until December of the same year.

Handguns

Taurus PT99AF

In "Genesis, Part 1" (S1E01), Jim Shannon (Jason O'Mara) finds a customised Taurus PT99AF fitted with a muzzle device, rail system and some form of sight in a backpack along with some other technology before travelling through the time rift. This pistol can be identified as an early model by the markings on the slide and the fact that the safety catch lacks the ability to rotate down and decock the weapon.

In "Genesis, Part 1" (S1E01), Jim Shannon (Jason O'Mara) finds a visually modified Taurus PT99AF (note adjustable rear sight, indicating that this is a PT99 and not a PT92).

Rifles/Carbines

Colt Carbine

Some form of Colt Carbine is used as the basis for one of the rifles used by the Terra Nova settlers, with the overall appearance of a Model 733. All that can be seen of the original weapon is the Birdcage type flash-hider, 30 round magazine and A1 type rear sight. In behind the scenes videos actors can be seen training on Colt carbines that have slab sided lower receivers and lack forward assists and case deflectors, so it is possible that these weapons are chopped down Sporter 1 Carbines.

A shot of the dressed up weapon with magazine removed. Visible in this shot is the Colt Carbine ejection port, birdcage flash-hider and the charging handle which has a cut out in the stock to allow it to be pulled all the way back.

A visually modified Heckler & Koch MP5A3 can be seen being used by a "Sixer" in "The Runaway" (S1E05).

Terra Nova Weapons

Several of the futuristic weapons wielded by the citizens of Terra Nova are in reality visually modified "Nerf" blasters.

Pistol

The Terra Nova handgun notably carried by Commander Nathaniel Taylor (Stephen Lang) and other characters is in reality, a modified "N-Strike" Nite Finder.

Light Rifle

The "Light Rifle" wielded in the series appears to be a modified Nerf "Recon CS-6" blaster.

Component parts of the Nerf Recon CS-6. Only the core component is used, and can be recognised by its pistol grip and the markings on the side of the "receiver".
