Winchester Model 70

There is a dispute that the rifle is actually a Remington 700 >http://www.fieldandstream.com/answers/other/trivia-question-movie-deer-hunter-what-make-and-model-rifle-does-michael-robert-deniro Can anyone confirm or deny this? --AdAstra2009 19:37, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

M2 Flamethrower

Am just kind of wondering if the flamethrower DeNiro uses is, in fact, an M2. In the first screencap he is clearly not holding the forward pistol grip but, instead, is holding on to the tube of the ignition system. Could this have been some sort of mock up? --Charon68 01:26, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

Trivia

From the main page: "(Trivia: DeNiro requested a live bullet to be used in this scene to heighten the sense of danger. John Cazale (Stan) did not protest, yet compulsively and understandably checked that the bullet was not next in the chamber for the scene.)"

Aren't there rules against this sort of thing? I don't care how method an actor is, but aren't there some lines that cannot be crossed? --Funkychinaman 12:08, 27 June 2011 (CDT)

Unidentified M16 Carbine

Hard to see, but at 1:08:23m a soldier seems to have a Colt Model 607/Colt Model 609. I think it might be that the chamber isn't chromed, indicating a 607. It seems to be from stock footage, so it might be an actual one, and not a modification. Maybe someone with a blue ray version can have a closer look. AK-47/Type 56s

One thing I have always wondered about this movie is how they got their weaponry. In an era where all other movies were using Valmet M71s as stand ins for the 'real' Kalashnikov weapons this movie and Apocalypse Now had the 'real deal'. Was it just stuff captured by the Philippine Army or what? --Charon68 (talk) 21:30, 21 October 2014 (EDT)
