Hey, to anyone out there who has played this game, is it any good?

Commando's heavy sniper

The anti-material sniper rifle used by commando is not a SSG-3000, but a McMillan M87R. It was used by SEAL's since the 1987 and appear in every SOCOM's edition as a counterpart of the Barrett M82. http://members.shaw.ca/tmcveigh/Projects/GunRights/images/m87.jpg

I dug up some more information because the identity of the M87ELR has been bothering me. Fans on the message board have suggested a theory that the M87ELR was supposed to be a .50 caliber (like the M87R) in the planning stage, but when Slant 6 actually got around to modelling the weapon, they ended up with the model for a 7.62x51mm SSG-3000. My final entry in the discussion page; a recent patch, possibly the cold war patch or the one before it, fixed the error in the description of the M87ELR. The programming of the game has been changed so that the M87ELR now uses .50 BMG rounds instead of 7.62x51mm NATO. However, the weapon's model remains the same: so in the end, we are left with an SSG-3000 incorrectly chambered for .50 BMG.

Completing the Article

I've been watching this section for a long time, and I really want to make this article meet acceptable standards, problem is, I don't know how to do that. The only things I have on the agenda are adding in the missing firearms and equipment, like the PKM, M67 grenade, AT4, RPG-7, and other miscellaneous entries. I still need to confirm the identities of the previously mentioned missing additions before I throw them in. I'm also considering expanding the information in the article by adding the stats of the weapons (firepower, encumberance, etc.); this is whee I need help, because I don't want to just turn the article into a "game strategy guide", and list off stats, unless that is what I should be doing.

IMFDB isn't a game guide, so my advice is to avoid weapon stats altogether and just focus on identifying the guns. If people want stats, some should perhaps band together, head over to the SOCOM Wiki, and lift it out of its abysmal state. Spartan198 08:29, 11 July 2011 (CDT)

Flashbang "Stun" Grenade

Could someone familiar with this game confirm that it's an M84? Because there is a flashbang grenade in the US arsenal known as the Mark 141 Mod 0 and used primarily by US Navy SEALs, which previous entries in the series did, in fact, have in them. Spartan198 12:14, 24 August 2012 (CDT)
