Snow and Ashes (Sneg i pepel) is a Russian 2015 war espionage mini-series directed by Sasha Kiriyenko. In Winter 1942, a large unit of Red Army falls into the enemy encirclement. Only a narrow isthmus in swamps connects this unit with the mainland. While Wehrmacht prepare for a decisive offensive, a German saboteur acts among the Soviet troops, hampering the defence. To expose him, Major Urusov (Denis Shvedov) of the counterintelligence service begins the investigation.

Trivia

152 mm howitzer M1937 (ML-20)

Soviet 152 mm howitzer M1937 (ML-20) are used to depict the German artillery. In reality, captured ML-20s were highly prized in Wehrmacht and adopted as 15.2 cm KH 433/1(r), so the usage of this guns against the Soviet troops is not impossible. As the guns are shown firing without any artillerymen near them, most likely these are CGI.
