Rising Sun is a 1993 thriller directed by Philip Kaufman and based on the bestselling novel of the same name written by Michael Crichton (the author of Jurassic Park). The film stars Wesley Snipes as an LAPD homicide detective who is called in to investigate the murder of a young woman in the boardroom of a powerful Japanese corporation based in Los Angeles. When he is paired with an LAPD liaison officer (Sean Connery) with a mysterious past, they both discover that the murder may be part of a conspiracy involving the corporation and the US government.

Capt. John Connor (Sean Connery) carries a snub-nosed Smith & Wesson Model 66 as his sidearm. He is seen with the revolver when he and Webb prepare to take on intruders who have come to his residence. Some of the Japanese bodyguards are also armed with the revolver.
