Ransom (1996)

Ransom is a 1996 thriller directed by Ron Howard and stars Mel Gibson as an airline tycoon who finds that his son is kidnapped and sets off a dramatic set of circumstances when he turns the tables on the kidnappers. Ransom is actually a loose remake of a 1956 Glenn Ford film of the same name. The film's cast includes Rene Russo, Gary Sinise, Lili Taylor, and Delroy Lindo.

NYPD officers employed prior to the transition of semi-automatic handguns in 1993 were allowed to continue to carry their revolvers if they so desired (until 2018 when the dinosaur officers were ordered to switch to the semi-auto pistol), however the Model 19 was not one of the approved revolvers for use as an NYPD sidearm.
