Mackenna's Gold is a 1969 Western movie directed by J. Lee Thompson and adapted from the 1963 novel by Heck Allen. The film stars Gregory Peck as Marshal MacKenna, Omar Sharif as Mexican outlaw John Colorado and Telly Savalas as US Cavalry Sergeant Tibbs. The plot revolves around the gold, hidden in on Apaches territory. MacKenna takes a treasure map from dying shaman Prairie Dog (Eduardo Ciannelli) who was already stalked by Colorado's gang. As events unfold, more and more people become involved in the treasure hunt, including Inga Bergmann (Camilla Sparv), kidnapped by Colorado, and treacherous Sgt. Tibbs.

Single Action Army Civilian Model

Single Action Army "Civilian" Model revolvers are used by Marshal Sam MacKenna (Gregory Peck), John Colorado (Omar Sharif), members of his gang Sanchez (Keenan Wynn), Avila (Dick Peabody), Laguna (Pepe Callahan) and Hesh-Ke (Julie Newmar), a gambler from the town of Hadleyburg Ben Baker (Eli Wallach) and a wandering Englishman (credited as "Older Englishman") (Anthony Quayle). Colorado's paired revolvers have a deep blue-black finish and pearl grips; other characters have more common versions of SAA.

Single Action Army Artillery Model

During the encouter with Prairie Dog, MacKenna's revolver switches from "Civilian" to "Artillery" model due to a continuity error. "Artillery" model revolvers are also seen in hands of two men of Ben Baker's motley crew.

Single Action Army (Mocked Up as Remington 1858 New Army)

Sergeant Tibbs' (Telly Savalas) revolver is a Single Action Army "Cavalry" model, visually modified to resembled the Remington 1858 New Army, with fake Remington's cylinder rod. Same looking revolver is also used by the Lieutenant (Duke Hobbie) in charge of the cavalry unit. Similar mockups were often used in Western movies.

Winchester Model 1892 Rifle

Winchester Model 1892 short rifles are used by John Colorado (Omar Sharif) and his gang members Sanchez (Keenan Wynn), Besh (Rudy Diaz), Monkey (Robert Phillips), Avila (Dick Peabody), and Hesh-Ke (Julie Newmar). Winchester Model 1892 rifle is also seen in hands of Old Apache Woman (Madeleine Taylor Holmes). These rifles have octagonal barrels.

Winchester Model 1892 (Mocked Up as Henry 1860)

Henry 1860 rifles, seen in the movie, actually are visually modified Winchester Model 1892, with removed handguards. Such rifle is seen in Judge Bergerman's (Trevor Bardette) house, and later it is used by Hachita (Ted Cassidy) who personally killed the Judge. Sergeant Tibbs (Telly Savalas) and his cavalrymen also use such rifles.
