Lorne Greene (1915-1987) holds a Single Action Army revolver as Ben Cartwright in Bonanza (1959-1973).

Lorne Greene (1915-1987) was a Canadian actor best known for his roles of Ben Cartwright on Bonanza and as Commander Adama in both the original Battlestar Galactica and its short-lived spin-off, Galactica 1980. In addition to his work as an actor, his work in radio lent him to be dubbed the "Voice of Doom" for his various war-time news reports during World War II, and was credited for the invention of the "backwards clock," a reverse stop-watch that would allow radio performers to know how much time they had remaining before transitioning to another program.

Towards the end of his life, he dedicated his time to various animal causes, and was the voice for Alpo dog food commercials circa 1980s.
