Jack Reacher: Never Go Back Jack Reacher Never Go Back by Lee Child. Tom Cruise reprises his role as Reacher, who returns to the world of the US military when he discovers that the MP commander who replaced him is charged with a crime. The film also co-stars Cobie Smulders and Robert Knepper and was helmed by Edward Zwick , who also directed Cruise in 2003's The Last Samurai
