Hostile Whirlwinds (Vikhri vrazhdebnye; the title is a line in the popular Polish and Russian revolutionary song "Warszawianka") is a Soviet 1957 (filmed 1953) historical drama directed by Mikhail Kalatozov. The movie portrays several episodes of the biography of Felix Dzerzhinsky in the first years of the Soviet Power, notably the suppression of the uprising of Left Socialist Revolutionary Party (Left SR) against the Bolsheviks in July 1918 (in the storyline the rebels are called "Anarchists" instead of correct "Left SRs"), the organisation of orphanages for street children in 1921, and the management of Soviet heavy industry in 1925.
