Five Gates to Hell Dolores Michaels , Patricia Owens and Neville Brand . The film was directed by James Clavell, the author/screenwriter/director who himself was a POW during World War II and later became well known for his epic novels set in Asia and later were adapted into such successful television miniseries such as Shogun .
