Yerik Kaliuly Zholzhaksynov ((correct, but uncommon transliteration is Yerik Qaliuly Zholzhaqsynov), born May 15,1959, Karas vallage, Kurshim District, East Kazakhstan Region, Kazakhstan) is the famous Kazakh stage, film and television actor. He also play in several foreign movies and TV series, where he plays ethnic asian people, like Chinese, Korean or Japanese. Due his many years work in Kazakhstan cinema, he was awarded the medal of Honored Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan. His most notable role in foreign cinema is the police major Takuya Minamoto (main role) in Russian-Japanese-Kazakh TV-series Hokkaido Police. Russian Department (Politsiya Khokkaydo. Russkiy otdel) (where the character rarely carried a firearm).
