Davos 1917 is a 2023 television series and a co-production of Swiss television SRF and ARD Degeto. The story takes place in Davos in the canton of Graubünden in 1917 and is loosely based on Thomas Mann's The Magic Mountain. The nurse Johanna Gabathuler returns pregnant from a mission in Verdun to the climatic health resort of Davos. There, her family runs the "Curhaus Cronwald", which is in financial difficulties. Her father has the child taken away from her, as she is to be married off to Grand Councillor Thanner. Countess and German spy Ilse von Hausner, who is in Davos for a cure, promises Johanna that she will help her get the child back if she spies for the German Empire. As spies from the other warring parties are also in Davos, a battle breaks out for the most important information that could be decisive for the war.
