The story takes place in April 1944 in Yugoslavian mountains. The German troops need to deliver fuel but the road is under attack of Tito's partisans. Then Germans use Soviet POWs as drivers of the fuel tank cars, chaining them to the steering wheels. Now the partisans have to stop the German columns and free the prisoners.
