Birdsong is a two-part 2012 UK miniseries, based on the 1993 war novel of the same name written by Sebastian Faulks. The miniseries follows Stephen Wraysford, a young Englishman, has seen many horrors as a soldier in the trench warfare of the First World War. His only consolation is the memories of Isabelle, with whom he had a brief passionate affair before the war. But the relationship was ill-starred, as Isabelle was married, and eventually ended. In his daily struggle for life and death, Stephen is assisted by Captain Michael Weir and tunnel specialist Jack Firebrace.
