M61A2 Vulcan

ESPN anchor Jeff Bullington (Will Smith) calls in a strafing run from an F/A-18 Hornet. Although it is never specified when the film was set, CNN, the first 24-hour news network, debuted in 1980, while the F/A-18 didn't enter operational service until 1983. The appearance of this aircraft is likely a reference to Will Smith's previous role as USMC F/A-18 pilot CAPT Steven Hiller in Independence Day.
