Akira
Akira is a 1988 anime movie adapted from roughly the first half of a telephone directory-sized comic series by Katsuhiro Otomo, who also directed the movie itself. It is set in the year 2019 in an extremely 80s cyberpunk dystopia, the Japanese city of Neo-Tokyo, a megalopolis created following the mysterious destruction of the original Tokyo in 1988, an event that lead to a third world war. The sprawling city that rose from the ashes is beset by government corruption and political protests, and at night is practically a war zone between rival biker gangs.
One of these gangs, the Capsules, count among their members a hotheaded young man named Kaneda and his quiet friend Tetsuo. Following a battle with their arch-rivals the Clowns, Tetsuo is involved in an accident which awakens telekinetic powers, and involves both him and Kaneda in the government's schemes. As the situation grows in severity, it becomes clear that the government is meddling with forces that no human can control, all tied to an enigmatic person or force known as "Akira" which has some kind of link to the destruction of the original Tokyo 31 years before.
Akira was one of the first "real" anime films to see a Western release and is often credited with popularising Japanese animation in the West. While it only saw a limited Western theatrical release, it was a huge hit on home video, leading among other things to the establishment of UK label Manga Video. It has been dubbed into English several times, with the most well-known the original Streamline dub where Kaneda is played by Cam Clarke (credited under the pseudonym Jimmy Flinders).

Handguns
Desert Eagle
Colonel Shikishima uses a Desert Eagle to shoot Tetsuo at the Neo-Tokyo Stadium.
Beretta M1934
One of the resistance members, while kidnapping Takashi, uses a Beretta M1934 with a squared/hooked trigger guard and Mayor Nesu also appears to have one.
Mauser HSC
Kei uses a Mauser HSc to shoot a soldier.
Micro Uzi
These Micro Uzi looking pistols are used by the military.
Unknown Pistol
When the Colonel is about to get arrested a man holds an unknown pistol on him, the pistol seems to be inspired or directly based on a West German P226
Rifle
Enfield XL64E5
Enfield XL64E5 assault rifles, the SA80 prototypes, are used by the Neo Tokyo Police Troops, most notably in the scene where four police officers fire a hail of bullets into two resistance members.
Submachine Guns
Unknown SMG
Guards hold unknown silenced SMGs on the Colonel. They appear to be a fictional combination of a stockless Uzi and an extended-barrel Haenel-Schmeisser MP28/II with a barrel shroud.
Sten Mk. II
During the bombing of the skyscraper mall, one of the fleeing resistance members fires a Sten Mk. II submachine gun at pursuing soldiers before being gunned down.
Uzi
One of the resistance members carries a full-size Uzi during the infiltration of the government labs. Kei later uses it to shoot at the flying platforms.
Machine Guns
General Dynamics M197 Vulcan
The gatling gun mounted on flying platforms is traced after General Dynamics M197 Vulcan.
Launchers
Unknown Grenade Launcher
The Neo-Tokyo Army uses unknown single-shot tear gas grenade Launchers when trying to stop Tetsuo during his break-out. They look like DefTech Launchers with inline stocks and a lack of a foregrip.
"Laser Cannon"
Although not really a launcher, what are referred to as "laser cannons" in the concept art are used by the army and Kaneda in the final battle. They are shown as being able to cut through tissue and metal objects cleanly and easily - they also tend to go right through their target and hit things behind them. Presumably, they use the same technology as the military's SOL satellite cannon.
Tanks
Gun Platforms
Other than the flying platforms, the military use tanks to stop Tetsuo with no avail.
