The Afanasev-Makarov AM-23 is a Soviet aircraft autocannon. It entered service in 1954 and was the standard defensive armament of many Soviet aircrafts including Tu-16, Tu-95, M-4 and 3M bombers, An-8 and An-12 cargo planes, Be-8 and Be-10 hydroplanes. AM-23 was also manufactured in China as Norinco Type 23-2.
