Max von Sydow (born Carl Adolf von Sydow; April 10, 1929 – March 8, 2020) was a famous Swedish actor who had a 70 years career in European and American cinema. He made appearance in more than 150 films, including eleven directed by Ingmar Bergman. Von Sydow has been nominated for two Academy Awards: Best Actor in 1989 for Pelle the Conqueror, and Best Supporting Actor in 2012 for Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close. He also received two Golden Globe Awards nominations. In 1982 he received the Best Actor prize at the Venice International Film Festival for Flight of the Eagle.
