ArmA III is a military-simulation video game developed and published by Bohemia Interactive Studio (BIS) exclusively for the PC. It is the third installment of the ArmA series, officially announced on May 19, 2011, and is built around the new Real Virtuality 4 engine owned by BIS. The playable alpha version of the game was made purchasable on the Steam store and BIS' page on March 5, 2013. The beta was released on June 25, and the full release was on September 13, 2013. New weapons and vehicles are added with each new part of the free-to-download campaign, split up into multiple chapters.

The storyline is set in mid-2030s during an international conflict between NATO and the Iranian Armed Forces in the Aegean Sea. The main protagonist is Captain Scott Miller, a former United Kingdom Special Forces (UKSF) operator who becomes stranded on a 270km² fictional Mediterranean island called "Altis" (Based upon the 475km² Greek island, Lemnos), and must fight his way out by building an effective resistance force in the process and cooperate with the local population.

The Walther P99 serves as the standard sidearm of NATO forces. It's in game designation is P07, and it's chambered for 9x21mm, the same as the OPFOR pistol.

MP-443 Grach

The MP-443 Grach appears as the OPFOR pistol under the fictional classification of Rook 40. Like the P99, it is chambered in 9x21mm, and their magazines are interchangable.

"ACP-C2"

The ACP C2 is the sidearm of the GREENFOR forces. It is a 1911 variant, based on a combination of a variety of models, namely the Kimber Custom Covert II, with the Kimber Desert Warrior and the Colt Rail Gun. It is chambered in .45 ACP and has a magazine capacity of nine.

FN FNP-45

The FN FNP-45 is BLUFOR's "heavy pistol". Heavy pistols are essentially similar to regular pistols in game, except they can mount certain optics on their top rail. It was released as a free update on October 31st. In-game, it is known as the 4-five .45, and is chambered for .45 ACP.

Chiappa Rhino 60DS

The Chiappa Rhino 60DS is OPFOR's "heavy pistol". Heavy pistols are essentially similar to regular pistols in game, except they can mount certain optics on their top rail. It was released as a free update on October 31st. In-game, it is named the Zubr, and is chambered in .45 ACP.

Assault Rifles

"MX 6.5mm"

U.S. Army soldiers use a fictional assault rifle (designed by real-life CMMG, Inc.), that has design elements borrowed from the Remington ACR and Robinson Armament XCR. Compact and light machine gun variants are also available. By default, it fires caseless 6.5mm ammunition, although it could possibly fire traditional cased ammunition, due to the presence of an ejection port on the right-hand side of the weapon.

The MX comes in five variants- a standard rifle, a carbine, a grenadier (3GL mounted at its 6 o'clock rail), a squad support weapon, and a Designated Marksman Rifle variant.

DIO KH2002 Sama

Iranian soldiers are seen with a fictional variant of the DIO KH2002 Sama, known in game as the Katiba 6.5mm. It fires caseless 6.5mm rounds. The front sight has been removed and the carrying handle has been lowered and modified with a rail system. Like the other assault rifles, the KH2002 can be customized with various attachments.

FN F2000 Tactical

A fictional variant of the FN F2000 Tactical is used by INDFOR soldiers and appears as the Mk 20. It features the Monolith Arms rail system, and can be customized with a variety of attachments. A grenade launcher is available for the weapon and called the "Mk 20GL". It is based on the FN GL-1.

The IMI Tavor TAR-21 is used by the NATO faction, specifically the FIA guerrillas. The in game designation for the full length variant is TRG-21, while its carbine version is known as TRG-20-. They're chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO.

Kel-Tec RFB Carbine

The Kel-Tec RFB Carbine appears as the SDAR 5.56mm, and is used by all factions, modified into a fictional underwater weapon. It remains visually identical, though. Oddly enough, its selector switch has only two positions marked; safe and fire, albeit the rifle's ability to fire in semi, three-round burst and full automatic modes. To compensate for its selectable settings, the switch will just stop halfway- at the 6 o'clock position, for burst fire.

A more retro design in these future days, the M14 battle rifle turns up almost totally un-modified. It's tied to the FIA faction, and is chambered for 7.62mm.

Knight's Armament Company Light Machine Gun

The KAC LMG, appearing as the Mk200 6.5mm, is the machine gun available to INDFOR in-game. It features a Magpul UBR stock and can be fitted with various accessories. It fires 6.5x39mm caseless ammunition.

IMI Negev

The IMI Negev is the OPFOR medium machine gun, chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO, and appears as the Zafir 7.62mm. It is fitted with a variety of modern furniture, including a FAB Defense stock.

LWMMG (*)

The first of two MMGs added with the Marksmen DLC, the SPMG .338 is a design inspired by the General Dynamics LWMMG. It's tied to the NATO faction, and fires .338 Norma Magnum rounds.

HK 121 (*)

The other MMG added by the Marksmen DLC was the Navid, also inspired by a real-world analogue, the HK 121. It fires in full-auto, and interestingly, a burst fire mode. However, the burst fire mode fires much, much more rapidly than the full-auto mode, similar to the AN-9. It's chambered for 9.3mm.

Metal Storm 3GL

The Metal Storm 3GL is the standard underbarrel launcher of NATO forces, mounted on the MX rifle. It fires both single rounds and 3 round magazines, in frag, flare and smoke variants.

Rafael Mini-Spike

The Rafael Mini-Spike appears as the Titan, in two variants. A normal, AA variant, and a shortened, AT and AP variant. It also comes in tripod mounted variants. It is universal to all factions. The compact version features a small launch tube with a square profile which is taken from the actual Mini-Spike, whereas the standard launcher has a fictitious larger hexagonal tube whilst still using the Command and Launch Unit (CLU) from the Mini-Spike.

General Dynamics GAU-19/A

The GD GAU-19/A is seen mounted on the "Mi-48 Kajman" attack helicopter (derived from the Mi-28 "Havoc") used by the Iranian Armed Forces faction in-game. It is unclear why the GAU-19/A is featured as the main armament of the Mi-48 instead of the Shipunov 2A42, although this reason could be for ArmA III's futuristic background. It does act like the 2A42, switching from HE to AP without needing to re-chamber.
