Background

Ken Takakura (sometimes credited as Takakura Ken) is a huge star in Japan, as some as referred to him as the "Clint Eastwood of the East". He became famous for his roles in the Yakuza movie genre just as Eastwood did with Westerns and Cop movies. Appearing in 156 movies, Takakura is retired now, but is an accomplished swordsman and is skilled in other martial arts as well. To Western audiences, he is probably best known for his roles in four Hollywood productions: The Yakuza, Black Rain, Too Late the Hero, and Mr. Baseball.
