Beretta 84BB "Cheetah"

Smith & Wesson 659

FBI Special Agent Lonnie Hawkins (Delroy Lindo) carries a Smith & Wesson 659 as his sidearm in this film. Other uniformed NYPD uniformed police and other FBI also are seen drawing their 659 handguns. The 659 is somewhat anachronistic for the FBI as the Bureau ceased using 9x19mm pistols in 1988, and moved to the 10mm caliber pistols in 1991, but during this transition agents that were issued the S&W 659 were able to continue carrying it if they chose to. **Correction - the FBI tested but never adopted the 10MM. I think this is actually a Smith & Wesson 5946 because the gun does not appear to have a decocker. The 5946 is authorised by the NYPD but maby not for the FBI. -And in the picture above the gun does not have the removable barrel bushing that 659s have.

Smith & Wesson Model 10

Uniformed NYPD officers carry the Smith & Wesson Model 10 with the 4" Heavy Barrel. This would be correct for the time period. The NYPD had transitioned to semi-automatic handguns in 1993, but allowed those officers employed before the transition to continue to carry the revolver if they so desired.
