The Silent One (Le Silencieux) is a 1973 French-Italian espionage drama thriller movie directed by Claude Pinoteau. Clément Tiber (Lino Ventura) lived as a young man in England, during the WWII worked in OSS. When, after war he returned to France, he wanted to live a normal life. He studied physics, married, found work. Soon he was kidnapped to Russia and there forced to work 16 years in nuclear research. When he was sent to Britain for a scientific conference, is arrested by agents M.I.5. Chief of British Intelligence (Leo Genn) wants names of traitors working for the Russians. After a long hesitation is Clément giveaway and get a whole new identity. But the KGB does not forgive betrayal. Manhunt begins (also therefore the film was shown on U. S. television called The Great Manhunt).
