UFO: Afterlight is the third and final installment in the UFO series.

Set on a Mars Base, the game involves the player managing a convoy on Mars while dealing with the local hostile Martians and other threats as they try to terraform the planet into something humanity can live on.

Contray to previous games which had a diverse selection of real world firearms, especially in comparison to X-com/X-com-likes, UFO: Afterlight features barely any real world firearms, the player only starts with 3 (A Pistol, Revolver and Assault Rifle and only one of each) traditional firearms and must develop fictional highly customizable firearms early on reverse-enginnered from them in order to arm themselves against the alien threats as the Mars base is mostly cut off from earth, relegating these weapons to only being used in the early game without cheats as there is no way to obtain more copies of the weapon or even ammunition.

The game's customization system is somewhat lacking for "Ancient Earth" weaponry, they can be either fitted with a Suppressor or an fictional "Accelerator" attachment that increases range and damage.

Walther P22

A Walther P22 appears as the initially available handgun to the player in what may be it's first appearance in a video game, Ute Heinemann is stated to have used it during the events of UFO: Aftermath (though it was not available to the player in that game) and kept it on the trip to Mars. it can be modified with a Suppressor or Accelerator.

Harold fires the P22 in combat, the slide doesn't move and silver-y glowy shells are ejected when firing instead of the usual brass.

Dan Wesson 722

The game's second "Ancient Earth" firearm is (allegedly) a Dan Wesson 722, specifically a VH6 model (though it is referred to in the game's files as the "AncientColt"). Oddly, despite being chambered for .22 LR like the Walther P22 above, they use different ammo types in-game (with the Walther's ammo coming in magazines, and the Dan Wesson's in boxes); precisely why the developers didn't simply choose a model chambered for a different round isn't entirely clear.

The weapon's description doesn't provide much insight, merely stating that it was found in one of the supply crates.

Unlike the other Ancient Earth firearms, it cannot be modified at all.

FN F2000

The FN F2000 appears as the singular Assault Rifle available to the player from the start, as the colonists brought a single one with them from earth, the Icon and Weapon 3D model have different colour schemes.
