The Raid 2, also known as The Raid 2: Berandal, is a 2014 Indonesian/American sequel to 2011's The Raid: Redemption written, edited and directed by Gareth Evans, who performed the same duties on the first film. Iko Uwais returns as Rama, along with a few other actors from the first film. Yayan Ruhian, who played Mad Dog in the first film, returns as a different character.

Writer and director Gareth Evans had started working on another script, Berandal, as a follow-up to his first film, Merantau, but eventually moved onto The Raid: Redemption for cost reasons. Berandal was then adapted as a sequel to The Raid: Redemption. Evans has indicated he would be interested in making a third film which would take place a few hours before the end of The Raid 2.

Like the first film, airsoft and replica weapons were used in place of real firearms, with CGI shell casings, muzzle flash and smoke added digitally in post-production.
