The Outpost

The Outpost is a 2020 war film directed by Rod Lurie. Adapted from the 2012 non-fiction book The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor by Jake Tapper, the film depicts the Battle of Kamdesh, which occurred on October 3, 2009 when a large force of Taliban fighters assaulted U.S. Army forces at Combat Outpost Keating near the town of Kamdesh in Nuristan Province, Afghanistan, resulting in one of the bloodiest battles of the War in Afghanistan. The film stars Scott Eastwood as SSG Clint Romesha and Caleb Landry Jones as SPC Ty Carter, who both earned Medals of Honor for their actions during the battle.

Rifles/Carbines
M4A1 Carbine
The M4A1 Carbine is used by US soldiers at Combat Outpost Keating, including SSG Clint Romesha (Scott Eastwood) and SPC Ty Carter (Caleb Landry Jones). The M4A1 Carbines are all fitted with ACOG sights and AN/PEQ-2 laser sights.
AK-47
The Taliban fighters who assault the outpost are armed with [[AK-47] variants. Local villagers and Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers are also seen with AK-47s.
Arsenal AR-F
Bulgarian Arsenal AR-F rifles are used by Taliban fighters. The presence of the AR-F is explained since most of the filming occurred in Bulgaria.
SVD Dragunov
SSG Clint Romesha (Scott Eastwood) uses a SVD Dragunov sniper rifle taken from an Afghan soldier to engage an enemy sniper.
Handguns
Beretta 92FS
The Beretta 92FS, standing in for the Beretta M9, are used by the officers at the outpost, including CPT Benjamin Keating (Orlando Bloom) and CPT Sylvanius Broward (Kwame D. Patterson). SPC Daniel Rodriguez (portraying himself) is seen using a Beretta 92FS when responding to the initial Taliban attack.
Makarov PM
A Makarov PM pistol is seen in the hands of ANA Commander Zahid (Ahmad Sakhi).
Machine Guns
FN M240B
M240B GPMGs are used by US soldiers while defending the outpost.
FN Minimi Para
The paratrooper variant of the FN Minimi, standing in for the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon, is used by US soldiers.
Browning M2HB
Browning M2HB machine guns are mounted on US Army Humvees.
M230 Chain Gun
The M230 Chain Gun is used by the AH-64 Apaches that arrive to provide air support.
Other
M203 Grenade Launcher
M203 Grenade Launchers are mounted on some of the soldiers' M4A1 carbines.
M136 AT4
Sergeant Josh Kirk (Jack Kesy) retrieves a M136 AT4 launcher when responding to the Taliban assault.
RPG-7
Taliban fighters use RPG-7 rocket launchers during the battle.
