The Last Ship (2014-)

The Last Ship is the television series adaptation of the 1988 William Brinkley novel of the same name. The series follows scientists and the crew of the US Navy destroyer Nathan James who discover that they are the last hope for humanity as they attempt to find a cure to a worldwide pandemic. In their search for the cure, the crew must defend their ship against those who wish to take their findings by force. The series is executive produced by Michael Bay and Jonathan Mostow directed the pilot episode. As with many Michael Bay productions, the series received cooperation from the US Navy and Department of Defense and many sequences were filmed aboard active duty US Navy destroyers in addition to casting active duty US Navy personnel as extras.
