The Children of Villa Emma is a 2016 Austrian movie directed by Nikolaus Leytner. Spring 1941: 14-year-old Betty escapes with the help of a Jewish aid organization that wants to bring a group of children to Palestine. But she has to pay a high price and leave her family and friends behind. The caretakers Josko and Helga first take the children to Zagreb, but they cannot stay there for long. After some hardships, the group finally ends up at Villa Emma in Italy, where they are initially safe. The teenagers grow up in a war-torn world and still have to deal with the problems and dreams of growing up.
