Stick (1985)

Stick is a 1985 thriller directed by and starring Burt Reynolds as Ernest "Stick" Stickley, a former car thief who witnesses the murder of a friend during a botched drug deal. After going on the run, he then finds himself settling back into society working for a wealthy eccentric, but soon finds that he must confront his past when the drug cartel shows up to eliminate him. The film was based on the novel of the same name by Elmore Leonard, who also co-wrote the screenplay.
