From producer Jerry Bruckheimer (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation), the name of the show was licensed from Soldier of Fortune Magazine. The show's name was changed to Special Op Force for the second season and two new actors including Dennis Rodman were added to the cast. Soldier of Fortune Magazine printed several negative fan reactions to the changes in the shows name and cast.
