Ready Player One is the 2018 feature film adaptation of the Ernest Cline novel of the same name. Directed by Steven Spielberg, the film follows Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan), a young gamer living in the year 2045 who is intent on finding the secret Easter Egg hidden in a worldwide virtual reality environment known as the "Oasis". The EM-1 Railgun, the fictional weapon from the 1996 film Eraser, is briefly featured as one of the available weapons used by "Aech" while on planet Doom.
The "Auto 9", the modified Beretta 93R machine pistol from the original RoboCop (1987), is briefly used by Parzival during the shootout in the dance club.
Art3mis (Olivia Cooke) also uses several iconic handguns, including what appears to be the "Lawgiver II" from the 1995 feature film adaptation of Judge Dredd.
Briefly seen in an arms display in the office of Sorrento is the modified Taurus Model 85 carried by Captain Malcolm Reynolds (Nathan Fillion) in the series Firefly.
