Hand Held M134's as the XM214 Microgun

The XM214 was a prototype 5.56 x 45 mm NATO rotatary barreled machine gun designed to be man-portable. It was designed and built by General Electric, but it never reached mass production although capable. Also known as the Microgun, the XM214 was a scaled-down version of the M134 "minigun", firing standard NATO 5.56 x 45 mm ammunition. Since the XM214 Microgun never made it into mass production, M134's were used in movies to portray the XM214.

Hand held M134's can be seen in

  • Jesse Ventura as Blain and Bill Duke as Mac in Predator. This is the original Hand held Minigun, It features an M60 handguard under the barrels and a 'Joystick' for the pistol grip. It is belt fed from a feed chute linked to a Back pack of 7.62 NATO ammo.
  • Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Terminator in Terminator 2: Judgement Day. This variant is similar to the one used in Predator but has a 'Chainsaw handle' instead of the M60 handguard. It is also the most popular variant and airsoft replicas of this weapon are avaliable with some parts that can be interchangeable with the real M134.
