Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen is a 2010 Chinese martial arts action movie directed by Andrew Lau (the Infernal Affairs series) starring Donnie Yen, Shu Qi, Anthony Wong Chau-Sang and Ryu Kohata. (Director Andrew Lau should not be confused with Infernal Affairs star Andy Lau.) Although described as a sequel to Fist of Legend, which was directed by co-writer Gordon Chan, this film shares little with Fist of Legend other than the character of Chen Zhen (played by Jet Li in Fist of Legend) and actor Yasuaki Kurata, who plays a different role. Legend of the Fist actually is set about a decade before Fist of Legend, and is more like a convergence point between Fist of Legend, Bruce Lee's Fist of Fury (which Fist of Legend was a remake of) and Donnie Yen's own 1995 Fist of Fury television series based on the Bruce Lee film. While Fist of Legend offers a message of tolerance and understanding in terms of Sino-Japanese relations, Legend of the Fist is filled with clumsy ham-fisted Chinese nationalism that is now commonplace in Chinese films.
The following weapons were used in the film Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen:
Handguns
M1911A1
Many characters use M1911A1s throughout the film.
Mauser C96
Shanghai police and Chinese resistance fighters use Mauser C96 pistols.
FN Model 1905
Chen Zhen (Donnie Yen) discovers an FN Model 1905 in Kiki's (Shu Qi) purse when she drops it. He picks it up and hands it to her, and she drunkenly points it at him.
Nambu Type 14
Japanese officers are armed with Nambu Type 14 pistols.
Rifles
Arisaka Type 38
Arisaka Type 38 are seen in the hands of Japanese troops, Chinese resistance fighters, and Shanghai police. They are also used by French and German troops in France, as it appears the stunt coordinators only had rubber Arisaka stunt rifles available.
Special
Lee-Speed Trade Pattern Carbine
One of the French soldiers is using a Lee-Speed Trade Pattern Carbine.
Chinese M1907 Mauser
German troops use Chinese M1907 Mauser rifles to represent Mauser Gewehr 1898s.
Lee-Enfield No.1 Mk.III*
Some French troops are seen armed with Lee-Enfield No.1 Mk.III* rifles in France.
Other
Type 24 Heavy Machine Gun
Allied, German, and Japanese soldiers are seen using Type 24 Heavy Machine Guns, a Chinese variant of the Maxim MG08.
