Kimber is an American designer and manufacturer of handguns and rifles who are especially known for their M1911-style pistols. The company was originally founded in 1979 as "Kimber of Oregon" by Australian immigrant Jack Warne and his son Greg Warne. The company originally specialized in manufacturing .22 caliber rifles. In 1989, the company began to flounder and its assets were liquidated.
