Frazier, Steve-O (posing as one of the bank hostages) has a discussion with Frazier about how "everyone who's seen a halfway decent action movie" knows what an AK-47 looks like after identifying the gun as such. When Frazier enters the bank after the robbery, another detective points out to him that the AKs are "toy guns". (Although identified as toys, the bank robbers can be seen using firing AK models when the detectives consider the consequences of raiding the bank. Since these sequences don't show events that actually happened, it is not a mistake that the guns would be "toys".)

An officer with a shield, or body bunker as NYPD ESU refers to them, can also be seen carrying one when they raid the bank.
