Devil May Cry

Ebony and Ivory

Dante’s hand-made guns, Ebony and Ivory are heavily customized 1911 pistols. They are similar to certain STI pistols, due to their extended frames. Both weapons sport one-port compensators to reduce felt recoil and muzzle flip in firing, molded wood grips with miniaturized Victorian portraits, custom slides with side exterior ejectors, custom frames, special engraving, gold assets which include; the triggers, slide releases, thumb safeties, and hammers, and extended magazines with slam pads. Despite being paired, Ebony and Ivory are not identical, aside from the finishes, the other differences are:

  • Ebony has Bo-mar rear sights, A long spur hammer for one handed cocking, And if you notice, Ebony's slide is also designed to eject from the left instead of the right as the Ivory is. The Ebony is exclusively a left hand gun.
  • Ivory has smaller sights (Novak or MMC), a shorter tactical safety lever and a ring hammer.

Luce & Ombra

The Legendary Dark Knight Sparda's handguns are customized 1911s similar to Dante's, save the engravings of their names.

Shotgun

An unknown sawed-off 12 Gauge Double Barreled Shotgun Dante holds one-handed and "reloads" by flicking the weapon open and closed, though he never actually puts new shells into it; one of his demonic powers is the ability to generate new ammunition from nothing, suggesting that as long as the chambers are empty he can refill them.

The shotgun doesn't even have a name until the fourth game.

Operating the handle actually pulls back the barrel and...ejects a spent casing. How the hell it manages this is not clear.

Not perturbed in the slightest by the mysteries of his firearm, Dante uses it to shoot a giant rock spider in the face at point-blank range. As you do.

Devil May Cry 2

Ebony & Ivory

Dante has learned a few new tricks with his handguns in DMC2, most notably the ability to fire at two enemies at the same time, a move similar to the fictional "Gun Kata" martial art in the movie Equilibrium.

Shotgun

Dante finds the shotgun next to a motorbike, in what appears to be a homage to Terminator 2: Judgment Day; however, it's still the same break-open design from the previous game. Among other moves, Dante acquires a technique in this game called "Fireworks" in which he spins the shotgun around like a nunchaku, firing several times.

Heckler & Koch MP5K

Called the "Machine Guns" and used in a pair as with Dante's handguns.

FIM-92A Stinger

Rheinmetall MG3A1

The boss "Infested Tank" is a fictional variant of the German Leopard 2 A5 (identified by the shorter L44 main gun); this version mounts a coaxial flamethrower rather than one MG3, but still has the other on the commander's hatch and will attack Dante or Lucia with it if either tries to get on top of the turret.

Hoffman Tank Gunfire Simulator

What might appear to be a smoke grenade launcher on the front-left of Infested Tank's turret is actually a training aid called a Hoffman Gunfire Simulator or more simply "Hoffman Device," a part of the MILES (multiple integrated laser engagement system) training suite. The Hoffman device is essentially a rack of snub barrels each loaded with a quarter-stick of dynamite to simulate the sound and flash of the main gun during exercises. Quite why this is still fitted when the tanks are in combat is not clear; it seems that the team based the tank on Tamiya's 1:35 scale Leopard 2 A5 model, which includes this part.

Hoffman gunfire simulator. Infested Tank uses a version specifically designed for the Leopard 2 with around twice the number of charge holders.

M230 Chain Gun

The boss "Infested Chopper" is an AH-64 Apache mounting what appear to be two giant Maverick air-to-ground missiles, Hydra rocket packs, and a M230 Chain Gun under the chin.

Lahti L-39

A gigantic anti-material rifle that uses an overhead magazine, "Spiral" is Devil May Cry 3's heavy long-ranged weapon; it is actually a Lahti L-39 with a shortened barrel, a carrying handle ahead of the magazine, and a wooden foregrip replacing the more usual ski-equipped bipod. One of the special moves has perhaps the most ridiculous physics in the series, which is saying something in a series where being impaled through the chest often fails to even injure the victim's clothes: Dante is said to use a "trick shot" to ricochet the bullet off multiple surfaces to make it go faster.

Kalina Ann

Lady's rocket launcher resembles a highly modified M20 "Super Bazooka" fitted with multiple rear launch tubes for micro-missiles and a bayonet that can be projected on a chain, allowing the launcher to be used as a piton gun. It can be used by Dante; the rockets the main launcher fires have an extremely short self-destruct, making the launcher only useful at close to medium range.

Custom Browning Hi-Power/CZ 75B Hybrid

Lady's handgun of choice is what appears to be a customized Browning Hi-Power/CZ 75B hybrid, with a longer barrel and a longer and heavier slide with compensator ports. In the "Welcome Back" cinematic, she performs some truly unbelievable reloads, including slapping a magazine into it in midair, as it falls from the sky. The handgun is a 9mm as evidenced in the cut-scene before level 9, it shows a close-up of a casing from Lady's handgun and it says 9mm on it.

Vz.61 Skorpion

One of Lady's guns is a Czech SA Vz.61 Skorpion submachine gun with a large bayonet mounted on it. A note of interest is that it's modeled with a much larger than normal magazine, about the size of a 5.56x45mm type magazine.

Devil May Cry 4

Dante's pistols and shotgun return once again, the latter finally getting a name, Coyote-A. Since Dante is only played for half of the game and the new player character has no alternative weapons, there are few new entries in this game.

"Blue Rose"

A comically enormous fictional over-under revolver wielded by new player character Nero, the Blue Rose is roughly the size of a carbine rifle and features barrels at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions of the six-round cylinder, firing both with each pull of the trigger. While there are some examples of revolvers with twin barrels, these typically have both barrels at the 12 o'clock position and two-layer cylinders; precisely how Blue Rose can strike the primer of the lower barrel's round with a conventional hammer is not at all clear. The layout seems to have come about by simply turning a normal revolver's ejector housing into a second barrel. The weapon features target sights, a left-handed cylinder and ported barrels, and resembles an extremely heavily modified Smith & Wesson Model 500. Despite that it should only be able to fire three times between reloads, Nero only reloads the weapon during his idle animation; apparently, he shares Dante's powers of not reloading unless he feels like it.

GE M134 Minigun

Dante's weapon "Pandora" is a briefcase which is able to shift into a number of fictional weapons including a rocket-launching crossbow, disc-shaped boomerang blade and an extremely silly flying device covered in missile launchers. However, the form he uses in air and on the ground in the cutscene where he first acquires Pandora, called "PF262: Jealousy," is clearly an elaborate mounting for a stubby set of GE M134 minigun barrels, missing one of the three front barrel clamps.

Dante takes aim with PF262: Jealousy in the cutscene where he first gains access to the weapon. Curiously, though obviously a ground mounting, this Pandora form can only be used in the air.
