The irony is, someone not acquainted with the firearm would not be able to operate it, hence Toorop returning the pistol he feels is defective. The question is: Does Toorop not know the firearm or was this an idea come up with on set for the scene?
It's a safety switch, it does not need to be continually depressed to fire the gun. Note how in XXX Yelena can fire her Vector with one hand. - Gunmaster45 You can hear a beeping noise as he holds the pistol on the seller, sort of like the Custom 1911 used later. This doesn't really mean anything, but it might explain that they used this gun because of its futuristic look to be some sort of advanced firearm.

Um, wouldnt it be easier to get an M4A1 instead of converting a M4? Plus, the m4 Toorop had during that shootout was full auto. And M4s come with removable handrails. ALL M4 series have removable handrails.

The right appeletation varies from model to model. The general term used is 2011 (derived from the evolution of a 1911). It is basically a double stacked 1911, allowing more than 7 bullets to be stored in the magasine, hence the nickname "hicapa". - There is also an airsoft company that sells this 1911 style weapon with the product name "Hi Capa" on the grip. I have one.
The specific hybrid slide setup is not uncommon for a precision shooting pistol, although it is usually only the top of the slide that is cut.
