Baa Baa Black Sheep was a World War II television series that aired from 1976-1978 on NBC and was inspired by the exploits of Marine fighter ace Greg "Pappy" Boyington. It starred Robert Conrad as Boyington as he led a group of misfit Marine fighter pilots who came to be known as the "Black Sheep". The show also went under the name "Black Sheep Squadron".

Rifles

M1 Garand

The M1 Garand is the main weapon used by US Marines in the series.

M1 Carbine

The M1 Carbine is also a frequent weapon carried by Marines in the series. As with the majority of productions at the time, the Carbine used is of the Korean War era.

Arisaka Type 99

The Arisaka Type 99 rifle was one of the main battle rifles used by the Japanese Army in the Pacific theater and is seen used throughout the series. Pappy and some of the Black Sheep are seen with them during the episode "Up for Grabs", when their island is taken over by Japanese forces disguised as Marines.

Submachine Guns

M1A1 Thompson

Several Marines are seen carrying or firing the M1A1 Thompson in the series. When Pappy and his men go on a mission to rescue a downed pilot, they are armed with the Thompsons.

Handguns

Colt M1911A1

The main sidearm carried by the Black Sheep is the Colt M1911A1. Pappy is seen drawing his in Season 1's "Anyone for Suicide?".

Colt New Service

Lt. French is seen carrying a Colt New Service revolver as his sidearm.

Nambu Type 14

The main sidearm of Japanese forces on the series is the Nambu Type 14 Pistol. A Nambu is most notably seen carried by the Japanese officer who threatens Boyington in Season 1's "Up for Grabs".

Browning M2HB

The Browning M2HB machine gun is seen on 214's airfield in machine gun nests. Pappy is seen firing it during an air raid. The Browning is also the main armament of the Black Sheep's F4U Corsair.

Japanese forces are seen firing the Nambu Type 99 Light Machine Gun in various episodes.

Nambu Type 92 Heavy Machine Gun

Japanese forces are also seen using the Nambu Type 92 Heavy Machine Gun in several episodes, sometimes fired from machine gun nests and sometimes mounted on armored vehicles.

Type 89 "Knee Mortar"

Type 89 "Knee Mortar" (technically grenade launchers) are used by Japanese forces in various episodes.

Type 89 "Knee Mortar". In reality it was translated as "Leg Mortar" but poor translation changed it to Knee. This resulted in many GIs trying out captured ones by firing them from the knee, which led to multiple injuries.
