9th Company: Roots of Terror is a 2008 action-oriented real-time strategy game based on the 2005 Russian film The 9th Company. The game, just like the film, loosely follows actual events that took place on Hill 3234 during Operation Magistral, in the Soviet-Afghan war. The game displays footage from the film and features playable characters from the film as well.

Handguns
Makarov PM
The Makarov PM pistol is used in-game by the Mujahideen and by Soviet soldiers. Strangely enough, it appears to be a commercial imported Makarov by Baikal, called the IJ-70. It features an adjustable rear sight, not seen on the military Makarov pistol. Also the finish is inferior to the original Makarov PM. In-game, this can be appreciated when looking at the HUD icon of the Makarov PM.
Stechkin APS
The Stechkin APS is used in-game by Soviet troops and Soviet special forces.
Assault Rifles
AK-47
A type II AK-47 is displayed on the French edition, on the CD artwork.
AK-74
AK-74 rifles with BG-15 underbarrel 40mm grenade launchers are used by Soviet Spetsnaz.
AKS-74
The AKS-74 rifle (alongside optional BG-15 grenade launchers) is used by the Soviet Afghan National Army and by the Mujahideen. It is depicted in a "jungle-style" taped-together magazine configuration, thus the ammo supply it carries adds up to a total of 60-rounds. The AKS-74 also features heavily on different covers for the game.
AKS-74U
The AKS-74U is used by Soviet infantry and tank crews.
M16A2
The M16A2 rifle is used by Mujahideen forces, despite the fact that the US never issued M16A2s to the Mujahideen, only M16A1s.
Machine guns
PKM machine gun
The PKM machine gun is used by the Mujahideen and by Soviet soldiers.
Heavy machine guns
NSV 12.7mm 'Utes'
The NSVU 'Utes' 12.7mm heavy machine gun is used by both Mujahideen forces and Soviet troops.
DShK 12.7mm
DShK 12.7mm heavy machine gun is used by Mujahideen forces and is also seen on enemy technicals.
Anti-aircraft guns
ZU-23-2
The ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft twin autocannon is used by the Soviets and the Mujahideen, and it is also used on the KamAZ gun truck.
Sniper Rifles
SVD Dragunov
The SVD Dragunov sniper rifle is used by the Mujahideen and by Soviet soldiers.
Lee-Enfield No.4 Mk.I(T)
The Lee-Enfield No.4 Mk.I(T) is used by the Mujahideen.
Grenade Launchers
BG-15
The experimental BG-15 grenade 40mm launcher is an optional attachment for rifles, which is strange, as these were fielded in 1978 and saw limited production before being replaced by the GP-25 series.
Rocket Launchers
RPG-7
The RPG-7 is used by the Mujahideen and Soviet soldiers.
RPG-18
The RPG-18 is used by the Soviets and the Mujahideen. It only has one rocket and cannot be reloaded.
Hand Grenades
RGD-5 hand grenade
Soviet RGD-5 fragmentation grenades are used by both Mujahideen forces and Soviet soldiers.
F-1 hand grenade
F-1 hand grenades are used by both Mujahideen forces and Soviet soldiers.
