Talk:The Iron Giant

This was a good movie, I'm gonna have to watch it again. Didn't quite like the whole view on guns though. - Gunmaster45

Would you prefer a spring-loaded showerhead? I think the view on guns fits the general, not-too-bright ambient of the movie. But of course, that's just my opinion. --83.78.166.123 17:33, 8 June 2010 (UTC)
The "ambient" of the movie? What is that, exactly? And I don't think the movie was anti-gun in any way. It was about the what the people were doing with them. The Iron Giant just didn't want to be a tool of destruction, a "gun" to him was a representation of that; in his limited knowledge of the world around him.--Spikemonkey 22:40, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

Did anyone else notice that when Hogarth tapes the flashlight to the BB gun it blocks the barrel? I can't remember if he ever fires it, but it seemed odd to me. - Alabastor Twob

1911?

That gun looks absolutely nothing like a Colt, other than it's a semiauto. It has about as much in common with a 1911 as the 10mm pistol from Fallout 3. Looks more like a highly anachronistic Desert Eagle to me; it even seems to have a slide mounted safety. --That's the Way It's Done (talk) 03:41, 24 January 2015 (EST)

Looks like an M1911 drawn by someone who'd only been given a side view for a reference and so didn't know the top of the slide was rounded and drew it square like a Glock. The bottom image is probably the best one since it shows the recoil spring plug underneath the barrel, even if it has one of those "I have never fired a gun ever" thumb-stabber hammers that kids draw. You're right. It sort of resembles a Colt in the third picture. The middle picture though looks like it has both a fluted barrel and a slide-mounted safety. --That's the Way It's Done (talk) 23:09, 24 January 2015 (EST)
I think that diagonal thing is an ejected casing rather than part of the gun, it looks more yellow than the frame. The "fluting" I think is an "under" shadow for the smaller part of the front of the M1911's slide that contains the recoil spring (which has been drawn as a smaller square, look at the shape of the muzzle). • Being that this to me is the only animated film that's actually added a lot of authenticity it's no doubt a Colt 1911. How can anyone mistake the most widely issued handgun in the early to mid-20th century with something else?-The Gunslinger 3 (talk) 02:06, 26 June 2015 (EDT)

Randomness

Not sure if I should post this on the Wargame: European Escalation talk page instead, but have a look at this. --HashiriyaR32 (talk) 12:41, 24 January 2015 (EST)
