True Detective - Season 1 stars Matthew McConaughey as Rustin "Rust" Cohle and Woody Harrelson as Martin "Marty" Hart, two Louisiana State Police homicide detectives who investigate a bizarre series of ritualistic murders in 1995. Their investigation is framed and interlaced by their testimony seventeen years later, as the now former detectives are interviewed by Detectives Maynard Gilbough (Michael Potts ) and Thomas Papania (Tory Kittles ) after a series of similar murders occurs. Season 1 consists of eight episodes, all of which were written by Nic Pizzolato and directed by Cary Joji Fukanaga.
