The Way of the Gun (2000)

Error creating thumbnail: File missing WARNING! THIS PAGE CONTAINS SPOILERS!

The Way of the Gun is a 2000 American crime film, directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the Academy Award-winning writer of The Usual Suspects. The film's cast includes Benicio del Toro, Ryan Phillippe, James Caan, Juliette Lewis, Taye Diggs and Nicky Katt. Although the film was not a huge box office success, it has since garnered a cult status.

The following weapons were used in the film The Way of the Gun:

IMI Galil ARM (7.62mm)

Mr. Longbaugh (Benicio del Toro) uses a Galil (Model 332 by it's barrel length and features) first as a sniper rifle fitted with a scope attached during the motel shootout and at the firefight at the brothel at the end of the film without the scope.

Colt MK IV Series 70 Government Model

Mr. Longbaugh (Benicio del Toro) and Mr. Parker (Ryan Phillippe) use Colt Series 70 Government Model pistols as their main handguns. Used throughout the movie. Unlike most films where handguns are "Mexican carried", they carry theirs in IWB holsters which is a much safer and smarter way to carry. The Colts used in the film are 9mm caliber noted by the tapered barrels and crimp indention in the magazines.

Although Taye Diggs is right handed, the weapons adviser for the film (a Navy SEAL) said that if you're using a building on your right as cover you would shoot left handed, which minimizes your body exposure and makes you less of a target.

Jeffers checks a room where he thought Parker went into after they got out of their SUV a second time. Note that he is still holding the gun left handed. While it wasn't necessary he continued to because he had gotten comfortable handling the shotgun this way.

Stoeger/IGA Coach Double Barreled 12 Gauge Shotgun
