Sahara (also known as Desert Storm) is a 1995 remake of the 1943 classic WWII film starring Humphrey Bogart. Directed by Brian Trenchard-Smith, the film features James Belushi in Bogart's role.

Walther P38

A Walther P38 is the sidearm of Major Hans von Falken (Alexander Petersons), a German commanding officer. He uses it to execute Bergman (Mark Gerber), a soldier who gave up information about German forces. Later, "Frenchie" Leroux (Michael Massee) grabs it after stabbing von Falken and shoots Captain Müller (David Slingsby).

M1928A1 Thompson

M1928A1 Thompson submachine guns are carried by Master Sergeant Joe Gunn (James Belushi), Jimmy Doyle (Mark Lee), Waco Hoyt (Paul Empson) and Osmond Bates (Alan David Lee). M/Sgt. Gunn and Bates use them until they run dry, Jimmy gets shot by German soldiers while firing it, and Waco never fires his.

MP40

Many of German soldiers carry MP40s along with Karabiner 98ks, notably Sergeant Kraus (Claus Dyson) who leads the advance party. Some Allied soldiers—Bates (Alan David Lee), Sergeant-Major Tambul (Robert Wisdom), Waco (Paul Empson)—also use captured MP40s against German soldiers when their original weapons run dry. Most notably M/Sgt. Gunn (James Belushi) uses one at the end of the film but stops firing when German soldiers trade their guns for water.

Lee-Enfield No. 1 Mk III*

Corporal Jean "Frenchie" Leroux (Michael Massee) and Sergeant-Major Tambul (Robert Wisdom) carry Lee-Enfield No. 1 Mk III*s fitted with bayonets as their primary weapons. Leroux uses the rifle during both German attacks while Sergeant-Major Tambul never fires his. At the beginning of the film, a young British soldier named Mike Clarkson (Todd MacDonald) also had a Lee-Enfield rifle, but he died before he could use it. Osmond Bates (Alan David Lee) also uses the rifle at the end of the film but stops firing when German soldiers trade their guns for water.

Dismounted from the tank, a Browning M1919A4 contributed a lot in the fight against the Germans. While mostly used by Tambul (Robert Wisdom), it is later used by M/Sgt. Gunn (James Belushi). Gunn uses it in its anti-aircraft role mounted on the turret to shoot down a German aircraft at the beginning of the film.

Bren Mk I

The Bren light machine gun is carried by two British soldiers—Casey (William Upjohn) and Marty Williams (Simon Westaway)—who use them against German soldiers. After they die, one of the Brens is used by Bates (Alan David Lee) to repel the second German attack. The Bren was the British army's main light machine gun in WW2.
