Max Payne is the 2008 feature film adaptation of the popular videogame series of the same name. Directed by John Moore, the film stars Mark Wahlberg as Payne, an NYPD detective obsessed with finding the people behind the murder of his family.
The following weapons were used in the film Max Payne (2008):
Max Payne (Mark Wahlberg) uses a Beretta 92FS as his main sidearm in the film. After BB "saves" him from Jack Lupino and then BB's assistant knocks him out and the gun was presumably taken after being knocked out because he is not seen using it in the rest of the film.
SIG-Sauer P226R
BB's right hand man, Joe, uses a SIG-Sauer P226R as his sidearm. Mona Sax (Mila Kunis) gives another P226R to Max Payne (Mark Wahlberg), who uses it when confronting BB Hensley (Beau Bridges) on the roof.
While Max Payne (Mark Wahlberg) is hallucinating in the Aesir building, one Aesir security guard tries to sneak up on him armed with a Glock 17 but is gunned down by Mona Sax (Mila Kunis) first.
Revolvers
Taurus Judge
Max Payne (Mark Wahlberg) carries a Taurus Judge revolver in .410 Bore and .45 Long Colt as his backup gun in the film. The gun's ultimate power is grossly misinterpreted, since Hollywood sees this as simply a "shotgun revolver", when in fact the .45 Long Colt it fires has more effective stopping power than the .410 bird-shot rounds it typically fires (based on the shot pattern left by the gun in the film, it is assumed he uses bird-shot). Somehow he manages to fire six shots from a five shot cylinder in this scene. In the commentary, the director oddly calls it the "Taurus P38".
Colt Detective Special
While at the train station, a junkie pulls a Colt Detective Special with a de-spurred hammer on Max Payne (Mark Wahlberg) before he disarms him and tosses it in the running sink. When the film flashes back and we see Max come home to find his family murdered, he dispatches several hired thugs with his issued Detective Special.
Charter Arms Undercover
A Charter Arms Undercover hammerless is seen on the table when Max Payne (Mark Wahlberg) is cleaning and loading his guns. Max is later seen firing it at an assailant in Balder's house.
Mona Sax (Mila Kunis) carries a Heckler & Koch MP5KA4 fitted with a 15-round magazine as an unconventional sidearm hidden under her jacket by a sling. During the final assault, Max Payne (Mark Wahlberg) duel-wields two MP5Ks with 30-round magazines, effectively dispatching Aesir Security by the dozens. When Max confronts BB Hensley (Beau Bridges) on the building rooftop, BB fires on Max with an MP5K, but it runs empty before he can score a fatal hit.
Heckler & Koch MP5A3
Members of the corrupt ESU team in the Aesir building fire on Max Payne (Mark Wahlberg) with Heckler & Koch MP5A3 submachine guns with tactical tri-rails.
Jianshe JS 9mm
A second thug at the warehouse uses a JS 9mm submachine gun, an export version of the Chinese QCW-05 submachine gun that is chambered in 9x19mm.
MP40
One of Lincoln's thugs is seen armed with an MP40 submachine gun.
Sterling Submachine Gun
A Sterling SMG is seen laying on the table in front of Lincoln.
Heckler & Koch UMP-45
Heckler & Koch UMP-45s are seen in the hands of Aesir security guards at the end of the film.
The corrupt ESU team is seen armed with M4A1 Carbines during the shootout in the Aesir building. Regular NYPD officers are later seen using them as well.
Mossberg 590 shotguns are used by several of the corrupt ESU officers in the Aesir building. Max Payne (Mark Wahlberg) uses one during the final battle at the end of the film.
Mossberg 500
A Mossberg 500 is seen during the credit sequence composed of CGI. Of equal note is the appearance of a Mossberg 500 Cruiser in the credits. Neither are seen in the actual film.
Winchester 1300 Defender
Max Payne (Mark Wahlberg) uses a pistol gripped Winchester 1300 Defender to clear out the drug warehouse. In typical Hollywood fashion, anyone hit with the shotgun blast is launched 10 feet back, which doesn't happen in real life.
Remington 870
During the final battle, several Aesir security guards wield both full length and pistol gripped Remington 870 shotguns. Max Payne (Mark Wahlberg) picks up a pistol gripped model and uses it to dispatch some guards before the drug he took overpowers him.
Other
Flintlock Muskets and Pistols
A glass display case is seen in BB's office filled with several flintlock rifles/muskets and pistols. In the film it is not seen clearly so a promotional image is used.
