Appleseed Alpha is an direct-to-video anime movie prequel based on the manga of the same name by Masamune Shirow (creator of Ghost in the Shell, New Dominion Tank Police, and Black Magic M-66). While Appleseed has previously been adapted as two CGI films in 2004, 2008, a direct-to-video TV series Appleseed XIII, and as well as a 1988 OVA, Alpha like the adaptations before it remains separate, featuring a new storyline using Shirow's characters, and settings. The movie was announced for a July 22, 2014 release on Blu-ray and DVD after a digital release on July 15, 2014.

Triton soldiers use rifles that seemed to be a combination of the FN F2000 and a FN P90. Overall it looks like an F2000, but you can see the P90's magazine inside it.
