Vantage Point (2008)

Vantage Point is a 2008 action thriller that follows the events surrounding an assassination attempt on the US President Henry Ashton (William Hurt), while making a speech in Salamanca, Spain promoting a treaty to fight international terrorism. The film is seen from the different viewpoints of Global News Network producer Rex Brooks (Sigourney Weaver), United States Secret Service Agents Thomas Barnes (Dennis Quaid) and Kent Taylor (Matthew Fox), American tourist Howard Lewis (Forest Whitaker), Spanish police officer Enrique (Eduardo Noriega), deadly terrorists Suarez (Saïd Taghmaoui) and Veronica (Ayelet Zurer), and blackmailed former special forces member Javier (Edgar Ramirez). Due to principal filming being done in Mexico City, a number of the firearms in the film (notably the Beretta 92FS pistols) are reproduction blank replicas instead of blank-converted registered firearms, likely due to lack of availability.

The following weapons were used in the film Vantage Point:

SIG-Sauer P229

The issued sidearm of USSS agent Thomas Barnes (Dennis Quaid) is a SIG-Sauer P229 pistol chambered in 9x19mm, instead of the correct .357 SIG ammunition chambered for the real life USSS SIG pistols.

At one point in the film we see a USSS agent using the newer SIG-Sauer P229R (with a rail on the frame nose) while pursuing Enrique (Eduardo Noriega).

The USSS agent pursues Enrique with his SIG-Sauer P229R at the ready. Due to continuity error, it changes from a Bruni 8mm Beretta replica.

In another continuity error, the SIG-Sauer P229R changes into a SIG-Sauer P226R.

SIG-Sauer P226R, this is considered a standard size "duty carry" weapon, while the P228 and P229 are considered "compact" handguns

The agent holds his SIG-Sauer P226R on a citizen. Note the length of the slide compared to the picture of the SIG P229R above, it is clearly much longer, making this a SIG P226R.

Beretta 92FS

The most commonly used gun in the film is the Beretta 92FS pistol, seen carried by Spanish police officer Enrique (Eduardo Noriega), as well as all of the terrorists in the film. USSS Agent Kent Taylor (Matthew Fox) is curious seen using a Beretta as his sidearm, instead of the correct SIG-Sauer P229 pistol typically issued to Secret Service. Many of the Berettas appear to be Bruni Model 92 8mm stage firing blank replicas. Many of them have the proper Beretta logo grips though, so they could have been installed on the props, or actual Berettas may have been used depending on location of filming.

Javier fires on Secret Service agents with his suppressed Glock 17 with a chrome slide. Here he has a grip rather fitting for a formal special forces soldier (aside from not keeping the gun eye level), although his thumbs are a little high here.

Beretta 84FS "Cheetah"

The terrorist leader Suarez (Saïd Taghmaoui) used a Beretta 84FS "Cheetah" to execute Javier's (Edgar Ramirez) brother when Veronica (Ayelet Zurer) fails to do so.

Glock 26

The terrorist leader Suarez (Saïd Taghmaoui) draws a Glock 26 when Agent Barnes (Dennis Quaid) comes to rescues President Ashton. This seems strange since the film earlier depicted a Beretta 84FS "Cheetah" as his sidearm.
