Amerika is a television miniseries that aired on ABC in 1987. The miniseries dramatizes life in the United States of America ten years after a bloodless Soviet takeover. Directed by Donald Wrye, the miniseries stars Kris Kristofferson, as a maverick American political leader who plays a role in the resistance, Robert Urich as a American administrator who collaborates with the Soviets, and Sam Neill as a Soviet KGB officer who supervises the region of America the story takes place in. Unlike the similarly themed Red Dawn, the weapons and armor seen used by Soviet forces in the miniseries were mostly American-made.

Browning M2HB machine guns are seen mounted atop Russian armored vehicles.

M61 20mm Vulcan Cannon
Several Russian helicopters appear to be armed with the M61 Vulcan. In reality, these helicopters were originally used in the 1983 film Blue Thunder.
