Characteristics

This pistol was adopted by the British Royal Navy in 1915.It was also issued to the Royal Flying Corp dring World War One. It is large and ungainly. The weapon was well made, but was lacking when it came to ergonomics.Instinctive shooting is difficult thanks to the grip, but it is a very accurate weapon when slow fired. It is chambered for the .455 Webley Auto which is a semi-rimmed round. Webley also made a commerical version chambered in .32acp and 380acp. The smaller model was called the Webley Metropolitan Police Pistol and was carried by the Royal Irish Constabulary and the London Metropolitan Police thoughout the first half of the 20th century. The smaller 32 and 380 caliber models are more likely to be found in the United States.
